Harley Owners Riding Experience (HORE) is back for 2014

Dulu when it was introduced back in 2009 it was known as Basic Rider Course.... tapi program tak dapat sambutan... maybe the course name "basic" doesn't attract the riders to join.... a year later, the program name has been changed to Riders Orientation Program.... great turn up especially from the new Harley owners sekitar KL. but still low participation versus the numbers of bike being sold via HDKL. So last year, we have decided to revamp the module, slides and content so it has be given a new name to which is Harley Owners Riding Experience....

learning has 2 methods... self learning and structured learning. self learning mostly via own experience, reading, browsing Google or watching YouTube. meanwhile structured learning is about classroom based, have learning material to refer too and course content that been developed to assist the learner....

kat Malaysia nie memang jarang ada structured class especially dedicated for Harley bikes.... luckily, HD KL has initiated one and continued supporting the event. it's not about teaching the new owners but getting them in a proper platform to share ideas, knowledge and information about owning the Harley motorcycles, understanding the lifestyle, aware about the risk in motorcycling, so on and so forth.....

so for those who interested to join this course, please give a shout and we will meet at the program soon.....

in addition, i would like to take this opportunity to thank Harley-Davidson of Kuala Lumpur, the Dealer Principal En. Azian & Bro Jimmy for giving me the opportunity to lead the course again. Your continuous support in promoting safety riding program are highly appreciated and should be followed by other automotive players in the market.

#1st Week | #1st Ride | 2013

I was driving to Puchong last Saturday eve after the whole day doin nothing at home when suddenly  i received a phone call from Rid (Mohamad Riduan) inviting me for a ride on Sunday with a bunch of Sea Shepherd supporters. Without taking much time to think, i accepted the invitation and has promised Rid to meet him with the rest of the members at Puchong Gateway on Sunday morning.

I've proposed to Rid that the route for Sunday ride will be towards to Morib using combination of trunk road and highways.

As promised, i woke up early on Sunday morning and rode my bike to the meet up point at Puchong Gateway. 10 minutes late from the promised time and upon my arrival i saw Raez, Yassir, Jim, Rid and Aida already waited for me at the Petronas petrol station. Reza and Adzri can't make it with the group this time due to their late appointment last nite. As usuall, we had a stick of cigarette before makin a move when suddenly Abang Nazli stoppin by with his GS to say hi to us.

So 6 of us, that it... good enough to start the ride that morning and we make a move towards the SKVE to Morib. The initial plan was to ride through Dengkil - Banting trunk road but due to Yassir proposal, we have chosen the SKVE highway toward Panglima Garang in Klang.

It was a great day to ride, great weather with the blue sky and fresh air passing through us on the rides. SKVE Highway is still quiet with vehicles, perhaps not many people knew about it... so we took this advantage to ride and view the beautiful scenery along the highway. Only few spots on the highway were not even but manageable to ride safely.

Upon reaching at the end of the highway, we entered the trunk road from Teluk Panglima Garang towards Banting town. Traffic was quite heavy around the small town with people busy doing their weekend shopping at the market area.

6 Harleys on the road is great enough to shake the town with our roaring engine sound, but it just for awhile before we proceed the ride to Morib.

Arrived at Morib, we stop for a breakfast beside the beach. Not many people were around the place... perhaps it was too early for people to go picnic beginning of the year. As usual, we had chit chat over the breakfast and took some photos before heading back to KL using the same route.

The route we chose in general was a good route to ride. Many things you could see along the road and highways, mainly the scenery of traditional village houses and plantation. Good distance to cover for a short weekend ride so that you'll be back at home before lunch time. Just need to be extra careful of the local motorist that came out to the main road from the small junction and those that turn into the intersection from the main road.

Till the next ride... ride SAFE!!

New Year... New Post.... New Resolutions!!

Dear Friends.....

this blog has not been updated for almost a year...!! demn how lazy am i... i'm sorry for those that used to follow the updates... or perhaps no more follower due to web "yang dah bersawang".... anyway, i'm back... like normal early years, with a new energy and "semangat"... my this year resolutions for this blog is that i'll try to be more active and keep on writing sharing updates on my riding activities and the Harley-Davidson motorcycle scene in Malaysia.....
First things first, my ride has a new color..... okay, not so new.... few months old... although the old paint was still in a good condition but the new CVO paint was so tempting till i decided to change it... and off course, with a CVO decal at both side of the tank. Yellow and Black is my favorite color for 2013 so there is it...!!

the bike now not only has new paint but new radio too.... as much i wanted to keep the original radio on my bike but due to it's setting which does not permit me to discover more frequency in Malaysia.... i've decided to replace it with Pioneer Radio... but this time i add 2 additional speakers and 2 tweeters to support the current speaker which i have... no, not Harman Kardon but Mohawk speakers are good enuf to make me entertained while riding..... thanks to Lee Bikers and my audio tech for a superb work in this "pimp my ride" project.... hehehehe

okay.... 2013 finally came. more ride to do this year which i've missed last year... furthermore it's suppose to be an active year to ride as Harley-Davidson is celebrating the 110th Anniversary this year...!! yuhoooooo...!! so apart from the weekly ride that never been plan, Pataya Bike Week, Phuket Bike Week and Hua Hin Bike Week are in plan... few rides along with other local MCs in Malaysia is great too.... but what i'm dreaming off is attending the 110th Harley-Davidson Anniversary in August this year at Milwaukee US...!! 8 months to go, i definitly desperate in saving money to go for this trip....!!

Well, seems August is quite a long way to go.... why not we start with small first as this month... i'm organizing a special ride which i called Camping Ride.... more to come and stay tune for more updates in this blog....!!

Ride Safe & Ride On...!!

2011 - The Plan

It's New Year 2011...!! And it's the time to plan for a ride this year so i would not miss any event when the exact time comes. The most important thing is that once you have the plan, it will be much easier for you to plan your ride & holidays.

Perhaps, not much will be happening in January 2011 as most friends will be busy with the new year job planning & family stuff. However, I've proposed a short 2D1N Camp Fire Ride for the HOG Malaysia Chapter members end of this month.

In February, the biggest bike event will happen at Pattaya Thailand, the Burapa Bike Week. I went to this event last 2 years (here) and it's about time to revisit the event in 2011.

In March, we gonna have the AGM for HOG Malaysia Chapter and during the AGM this year there will be an election for the new office bearer. I've been a Safety Officer for the past two years and what gonna happen this year, we'll have to wait & see. ;-)

April is the month that most biker being waiting for as Phuket Bike Week will be happening on 9 & 10 Feb at Phuket Island Thailand. There's a plan to ride to Phuket this year, however we may miss the Songkran festival due to day different between both event.

Coming back from Phuket, i may need to conduct the Harley Riders Orientation Program in May, or perhaps the Advance level course or better still the Marshal Course. Read here for info on the Riders Orientation Program.

However, can't really decide on this yet as i've to wait for the HOG new committee line up before confirming with any HOG event.

June is the targeted month to organized our 8th Malaysian National HOG Rally as we have long school holidays. I've sent my proposal to the current committee on this program for their approval however, as i mentioned we have to wait till the new office bearer line up to advise before we can proceed. Should the plan change, i still can plan for my trip to Bali for the 2nd Bali International Bike Meeting.

In July we'll be having the Hatyai bike week and it's gonna be the last month before we settle down in August & September for the holy Ramadhan month & Eid.

So far there's no plan for the last quarter in 2011 except there' s plan to ride to Hua Hin for the Hua Hin Bike week in December.

Perhaps, as time goes i may add something into my riding plan this year. In addition, besides attending the Bike Week event, i'll continue to write more about Harley motorcycle review & ride rally stories into WTR magazine. And definitly this year i'm looking forward too, to participate in any HOG Rally organized by any Asian country as such Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, etc.

So if you know any HOG or Harley event happening at your place this year, do let me know and i love to attend to it!

Harley Kids - Ride with the HEROES | 18th Dec 2010 |

Allhamdullilah, praise to GOD that finally the Harley Kids - Ride with the HEROES event went great after few weeks of planning & work hard. I'm glad that turn up was excellent as almost 200 people signed up inclusive of the riders + Harley owner's kids and their family members. Not to forget few members from the media as such Utusan, NST, WTR Magazine came to join this program too.

Registration
I had an idea of doing this for quite some times back hence only this year i managed to make it happen. I didnt really sleep that night before this event, worried about the weather as it was raining the whole Friday night. Luckly, while drafting my Director speech in the early morning, rain finally stopped at 4.50am. Finish all registration stuff & the speech, i took a short nap at 6.15am, befor Azu wake me up at 6.30 for a prayer before we both get ready to the dealership for that morning event.

Registration Crew
I arrived at 7.15am at HDKL and few members were already there. Anum, Nawi & family, Ghufran, Azizah & their kids, Agnes with her son too was there, Shaz with her sweet daughter were there too and later TJ turn up with his special Firemen helmet.

Cool Dad (Fizan) & daughter
As we were busy setting up the registration counter, more members arrived with their kids. Glad to see all of them and the kids minggle arround besides making friends with each others. This is one of the objectives, with riders meet among them, the kids makin more friends and not being left at home.

It's a FAMILY affair...!!
By 8.50am, we called everyone for a group photo. There was suppose a welcoming ceremony for the new harley owners, however due to time & tight schedule we have to changed the plan. Choo our Director made a short speech to welcome the riders & family members, i did some explanaition on the itnerary and Zain the Captain brief all on the ride plan. Once all the kids on the busses and riders ready with the bike, we off to Putrajaya via MEX highway.

The 30 minutes journey to Putrajaya was the memorable one as from front i could see line of Harley-Davidson bikes with most riders in red t-shirt. We had a good ride off corse with some assistance from the marshal. We reached at Putrajaya square to take a group photo infront of the Prime Minister office. Few tourist from China came a take photo with us too.

Later accompanied by 3 BOMBA Malaysia officers, we rode to their station and when we reached at the station more firefighters were there to welcome the group.

The program started at Putrajaya Fire Station with a short briefing by the BOMBA Putrajaya Chief, Tuan Azmel. Later it was continue by the demonstarton of firefighters response to the emergency call. Basically, we could see how fast the firefighter prepared when they were called to attend to the emergency situation.
The program continued with more activities as for the kids below 7 yrs old, most of their time were occupied by coloring the firefighter drawing, while elder kids were busy with riding the fire engine & shooting target with water canon. As for the riders & others, they were given the opportunity to try the skylift, hose marching and fire fighting with the extinguisher.

There were so many activities we did during the program and overall, i can see most of the kids and the adults enjoy the day. Luch was great too and to conclude the day, there was a short closing ceremony and speech by HOG and BOMBA besides exchange of momentoes between both sides. BOMBA did prepared some prizes too and most of the kids received good goodies and prizes to bring home.

At the end of the program, we took a group photo with all the firefighters and before leaving the firestation once again we say thak you to all the members for their warm welcome & great event!

Thank you BOMBA Malaysia Putrajaya, HDKL & all my fellow HOG Malaysia Chapter members, harley owners, kids & family members for joining this event. See you guys next year and this time we will deal with - the TANKERS!!
