+ jangan TAKUT.... +

kali ni post aku lain sikit. tak de tulis cerita pasal latest ride, gamba ride pun tak de.. tapi citer nie ada sikit-sikit pasal dunia ride... bahasa pun guna bahasa rojak lah, sebab kesilapan grammar dalam tulisan english aku ya amat lah banyak... apa-apa pun tak kisah la apa bahasa, apa grammar... janji aku boleh share citer ngan korang... paling tidak pun aku syok sendiri... hehehe

kat Hard Rock

malam tadi masa lepak-lepak kat Hard Rock, port biasa hari jumaat malam sabtu ada sorang member bagi tau...

+ member + "Roi... adalah dua tiga member cakap ko kempen kuat sekarang..."
+  aku lah + "kempen kuat...?"
+ member + "ye lah ini tahun kan tahun election kat HOG..."
+ member + "derang cakap ko kempen kat fb macam-macam bende ko buat, ko tulis...."
+  aku lah + " owwhh..... hahahaha..!"

aku tediam jap, tapi lepas tu sambung bual macam biasa. tukar topic sebab malas nak citer panjang berjela... lepas habis set live band aku angkat kaki, balik...

kat atas moto

dalam perjalanan balik bila teringatkan cerita member tadi aku tersenyum sendiri. seperti yang aku jangkakan, cerita-cerita macam ni mesti akan keluar... terutama bila aku agak aktif tahun ni dalam fb HOG Malaysia Chapter. ye lah, mana taknya... awal-awal tahun lagi aku da canang kompang pasal Camping Ride, pas tu aku post pulak citer-citer ride weekend aku ngan kawan-kawan, baru nak reda... aku up plak pasal HORE.... over sell btol la si Roi ni... hahaha...

sampai umah | dlm bilik study

nah... ni aku dah start nak bebel pulak. anyway, sambung balik pasal citer kempen election HOG nie. kalau adalah.... kalau betol lah, ada kawan-kawan yang rasa aku terlebih syok... mintak maaplah. bukan sebab nak kempen, bukan sebab election dan bukan juga sebab nak masuk bertanding jawatan HOG tahun nie...

"I've been there | Done that.... "

so untuk kawan-kawan yang rasa nak bertanding jawatan HOG tahun ni, teruskanlah usaha anda... jangan TAKUT, jangan gundah dan jangan rasa irihati... bukan sebab aku buat semua ni nak cari publisiti tapi lebih kerana syok sendiri.

i've once been volunteered myself to be the HOG Malaysia office bearer. masa tu tujuan tak lain hanyalah sebab minat sangat nak jadi Road Captain. sapa-sapa member yang ada masa election tahun tu mesti ingat "ya saya nak jadi Road Captain, sokong lah saya"... isi borang pencalonan pun cuma isi ruangan Road Captain saja (terima kasih Bro Jalal & Fizan) hinggalah Sdr. Nik Adelin (Hon. Secretary masa tu...) bagi tau yg dia masukkan juga nama saya dalam ruangan Safety Officer.

+ Nik Adelin + "kawe takuk dema kaloh post Road Captain, demo ada chang lagi jadi Safety Officer".... heheh, terima kasih Bro Nik...

maka kalah lah tahun tu dan tak dapatlah jadi Road Captain, tapi dapat jadi Safety Officer. and the challenge came right after i being introduce as a new Safety Officer sehinggalah ke mesyuarat pertama selepas AGM dan ke mesyuarat kedua, ketiga dan seterusnya... tapi aku teruskan juga. meeting tetiap bulan, kadang-kadang tiap-tiap minggu pun ada, tak masuk ride sana sini dan campur aktiviti ride sendiri.. it was never been easy, kena marah kena maki dah sampai mangli tapi minat punya pasal, aku stay dalam committee... timbul tengelam hari berganti bulan, bulan berganti tahun... lepas 2 tahun sampai lah masa AGM untuk election seterusnya...macam sama tahun yang dulu, kali ni aku nak gak jadi Road Captain. dah rezeki, maka menanglah tahun tu... jadilah Road Captain yang aku idamkan. campur tolak setahun, jadi itu ini, meletup sana sini, bang meja dan kerusi especially lepas Johor HOG Rally... dengan berat hati, aku dengan rela lepaskan jawatan Road Captain yg aku sayangi....
HOG AGM - photo by Lee Loong Wun
thats it...! itu je lah... cita-cita aku nak jadi Road Captain dah tercapai walaupun banyak bende yang aku nak contribute tak tersampai, never been in my mind or plan to go for any post further than being a Road Captain. jauh sekali nak jadi Presiden... now i've better plan, different ball game, different field and different style.

untuk rakan-rakan yang ada minat nak jadi HOG Malaysia Chapter office bearer tahun nie, i wish you best of luck. it's not an easy affair as you must put lots of effort and commitment... kempen kena kempen sebab kalo nak harapkan on the election day it self for people to know u, it's gonna be tough. kempen bukan buat chai, atau jual nama sana sini... tapi kempen la dengan organize banyak aktiviti, ride lah sana sini supaya members kenal siapa empunya diri... jarak masa sampai AGM tak lama lagi, campur tolak adalah 30 hari, belum terlambat sebab masa ada banyak lagi...

as for me, i'll continue doing what i love most - riding and promoting Harleys. i've achieve my dream of being a Road Captain for HOG Malaysia Chapter and now i'm making new many other dreams to achieve. i always interested to promote riding Harley-Davidson motorcycle to the public coz that are most what people dream. at the same time, i'll keep on promoting the legacy and culture in Malaysia Harley-Davidson community. Brotherhood, Love & Respect among Harley owners, great riding stories, riding skill activities and competent Road Marshal for everybody SAFETY. perhaps this year, i should start to do more talking, learning, meeting people and writing a book about Harley scene in Malaysia. A thousand mile journey start with a small step and as beginning i should put all dreams into planning.

to all my fellow Chinese Harley owners, i would like to wish you Gong Xi Fa Chai & more prosperity..!! as for the rest, happy holidays. ride SAFE..!!

Malaysia Harley Owners Riding Experience (H.O.R.E.) Course #01/2013

HORE #01/2013
*photo courtesy of Sir Joe Labu
in the beginning it was known as Basic Riding Course (BRC) when it was first launched in 2009. back then when i developed the module of this course i was the Safety Officer for HOG Malaysia Chapter. the main objectives of this course was to provide a platform for the Harley owners in Malaysia to share good practices in riding Harley-Davidson bikes besides creating safe riding awareness among all. In addition, this program was introduced by HDKL as one of their value added services to the customers.

not like in US and Europe that they have Riders Edge program, there was no such structured program being conducted or organized before BRC. for the Harley owners in Malaysia most of us especially those coming since from the HD Dealer 222 PJ and HD Dealer Sunway were self thought and based from our year to year riding experience. some learn from the hard way which is falling off from the bike....

so in 2009, 4 courses were organized and conducted with some help from TJ (HOG Activities Officer '09), Kamil (HOG Secretary '09) and Nawi (ex Safety Officer '08). it's not easy to get the "buy in" from the Harley owners to participate to this program during those years. we been challenged by many bikers on our capability in conducting the course... some even question on how we could certified the riders where's we were not being certified by any certified organization i.e. JPJ, PDRM, etc. let alone on the course name it self (BASIC Riders Course) as some Harley owners were reluctant to join as they didn't see why they should come for a basic session where's they have been riding for many years.... in total, 35 Harley owners mainly new owners attended the course for the whole year of 2009. not bad isn't it..... ;-)

“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learnunlearn, and relearn. ” ― Alvin Toffler.

in 2010, we organized 4 sessions of the same course in that year with some changes to the name of the program. Thanks to Dato S.M. Zulkifli (CEO of Naza 2 Wheels) who always being supportive to us by giving great  advise and feedback on what we have done has suggested us to reconsider the course name to pull more participation from the Harley owners. BRC course was later known as Riders Orientation Program in 2010.

course name changed but nothing much changed so far in-term of the numbers of participant registered to the program. among the Harley owners, we heard some feedback that the word ORIENTATION has hold them back from joining the program. perhaps bad experience during orientation session in college still haunted their mindset... but we stay focus and always motivated to continue organizing and conducting the course when the dates came. that year in 2010, 45 Harley owners have attended our program ..... extra 45 people from the first year ;-)

since then the course name has not being changed. we organized 4 more sessions in 2011 and 2 sessions in 2012 (low session due to bz schedule). slowly but surely, the demand for the same course came from the new Harley owners. this time we thank the HDKL and their salesperson who keep on promoting the program to their clients.

this year 2013, the course has been face-lift with some additional input of it contents, slides, excercise, material and name. it's now known as Harley Owners Riding Experience or HORE (pronounce as "HO Rey"). HORE module includes :

1. Introduction to Harley-Davidson, it's stories and legacy
2. Safety & defensive riding - road positioning & riding strategy (new)
3. Risk Awareness, Risk Accepteance and Risk Management
4. Preparing to ride and pre ride inspection
5. Basic maintenance, routine services and planning your parts & accessories (new)
6. Riding skill
7. Incident & crisis management (new)
8. 8 riding drill (new)
9. HOG Membership via hog.com (new)
10. Riding in Group

last 2nd & 3rd Feb, 24 new Harley owners have attended the HORE course. that was the biggest ever crowd we could get in a session so far. more sessions will be organized this year and this time not only it will be organized in HDKL PJ but will be in Penang too.

next courses dates will be announce soon and we do hope many more Harley owners will join. for those in other states i.e. Johor, Terengganu, Sabah, etc. if you interested to organized this course at your place, do let us know and we will be much happy to come and jointly organize with you.

in-addition to HORE, some good news that we would also wanted to share which are, this year we will be launching 2 more new courses to the fello bikers.

1. Road Captain & Road Marshal course
2. Initiating and organizing riding in group

till then, ride SAFE & continuously improve our riding skill ....

#3rd Week | #2nd Ride | 2013

this is the 3rd week of January 2013 and the weekend ride series continues after the Camping Ride which was held the weekend before. this time, i've invited Muhammad Adzri (Adik) and Jinggo to join me for the ride. since Jinggo bike is yet to be ready, he has borrowed Yasir Fat Boy for this ride and left Yasir at home.... hehehe... sorry brah...
our ride route = 135km

meet up point - Rawang R&R
the initial plan was to ride to Malacca. it has been awhile i've not riding to the historical state via the trunk road. I was planning to take some of the old Malacca houses along the way towards the town. unfortunately, the plan was not being materialized as we change the riding plan to Tanjung Malim instead for a breakfast ride.

that morning, Jinggo came to my house before we rode to the meet up point to meet Adik at Rawang. After 20 minutes ride from Subang Jaya we arrived Rawang R&R and Adik came slightly 3 minutes after we arrived. had 1 stick of cigarette, we jump onto our bikes and ride to Tanjung Malim.

Nothing much we did at Tanjung Malim except had a Nasi Lemak for breakfast and chit chatting about the ride. Jinggo suggested we detour to Kuala Kubu and chill ourself at the Pertak Waterfall. Since it was a hot weather that weekend and no objection to Jinggo plan, we make our move to the waterfall.

We rode from Tanjung Malim to Kuala Kubu via the trunk road. Not much to view along the way except till i saw the road signage that show Kuala Kubu Road. From that signage then only i realized that the old trunk road was known as Kuala Kubu Road once upon a time.

Kuala Kubu town is still a small town with not much development happening since my last ride to the same place 2 years back. We didn't spent much time around the town as Adik and Jinggo would want to dip themselves into the cilling water at the waterfall. not much story to share with you guys this time, except some awesome photos we took along the way to and comin back from KKB. enjoy.... :-)

Camping Ride | Gigi Palsu | Ikan Tempoyak

it has been a busy month for me in 2013. apart from my normal daily work in office, my weekend were full with my personal activities.... mainly riding my bikes. since riding is my passions hence i can't complaint much about it except to share more of my riding stories with you guys....hehehe

Camping Ride....

the idea of going for ride and camping has been in my thought for more than a years (click here). however due to other riding plan plus my new hobby which was scuba diving last year, this activity has been postponed for many times till January this year. Furthermore since HOG Malaysia yet to come out with their riding calendar, i took the opportunity to invite some friends to join the Camping Ride.

event @ facebook
One month prior to the exact date for this event, i started posting about the activities in the HOG Malaysia Facebook  Just to get some attention from some friends and early response. To my surprise the response was superb with more than 25 people responded the invitation and confirm of joining the ride. However, sadly on the exact day only 14 friends turn up with half did the last minute cancel to join the ride. With all the food preps and others preparation has been prepared i can't cancel the ride except do my best with my 14 riding friends that have committed to participate. I hope that the last minute cancellation will not becoming the new trend in Malaysia Harley communities...

route
Well, better small than never, 14 of us gathers at HDKL on that Saturday morning before we push off to Jeram Besu our campsite. After a short breakfast at the dealers and the ride briefing, we headed to Karak highway via Duke. The whole journey to our campsite was really great. With great weather and blue sky, we cruising through the mix of highway and trunk road. We did few stops for ciggerates and toilets plus one stop for refueling at Raub. Traffic was not heavy that morning hence we spent relaxing cruising ride besides enjoying the scenery of the local village.

fuel stop at Raub
After 2 hours of riding covering about 170km from KL, we finally arrived at our campsite at Jeram Besu, Pahang. Most friends who came were surprised to see that the campsite was equipped with all basic facilities including dining hall, toilets and lights. Some did told me that they thought it was a really an outback camping site before arriving the place.

We were served with the local kampung food for lunch. As usual, Ikan Patin Tempoyak was the main attraction since it was the most popular food at Pahang. While some were having lunch, the rest were busy checkin to their tent. Me & Tengku Imran decided to sleep in the open tent while the rest were in the dome tent.

one bungalow each.....
Campsite.......
Upon checkin and lunch and zohor prayer, all were geared up with their white water activities for that afternoon. Me & Ken decided not to join the white water rafting but spending most of our afternoon riding back to Raub for a drinks.

Tengku Imran & my tent

After 3 hours of white water rafting, i met them at the end point before we headed back to our campsite. soon after every one had taken their bath we spent our evening chit chatting while waiting for the dinner. Dinner was superb and that night we were serve with Ikan Patin bakar asam tempoyak. look like they never get bored with the local food and eat as much as  they could.
