Sultan Ibrahim donates escort vehicles to police
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has donated 19 vehicles to the Royal Malaysian Police Force worth a total of RM5.5mil.
The vehicles comprising nine Australian made Holden Commodore cars, two Proton Perdanas and eight Harley Davidson 1700cc motorcycles will be used as escort vehicles for the Johor Sultan and members of his royal family.Sultan Ibrahim presented the donation at a function held at Bukit Aman yesterday, which was attended by Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein. He later sprinkled some “tepung tawar” to bless the vehicles.
It is learnt that the Holdens which are used by the Australian police force are worth an estimated RM400,000 each. The 3.0 direct injection cars can achieve a top speed of 260km per hour and are fitted with standard police radios and sirens.
The motorcycles and cars also carry emblems to show that they are for the use of Johor royalty. The vehicles would be housed at the Johor police headquarters and the maintenance and repair costs would be borne by the police.
